Be a part of advancing your profession!

President Gretchen Sciarrino and Education Director Cindy Drew enjoyed an inspiring three days at the FNPN conference in Orlando. It was wonderful connecting with fellow NP members and sharing in the energy of the event. A true highlight was the powerful presentation by Dr. Valerie J Fuller, President of AANP, on advancing the nurse practitioner role, combating misinformation and disinformation, and empowering us to better educate the public.

President Dr. Deb Tedesco announced at her meet and greet that Student NPs can have free membership in FNPN till the end of August. This is such a great opportunity for student NPs. Please sign up this week. There is also an opportunity for NP students to receive scholarships and act as student ambassadors next year.

Gretchen and I are returning from the FNPN conference feeling inspired, and we hope to share that inspiration with all of you. The conference was filled with so many valuable sessions and connections. Be sure to visit our Facebook page for photos and highlights from this exciting week. We are also gearing up for NP week, which kicks off on Saturday, November 8. Planning is already underway, and we welcome volunteers. President Gretchen is collaborating with FNPN to involve other counties in our region. We already know that we will have encore presentations from Gretchen Sciarrino and Tracey Rzepka. If you'd like to get involved, please reach out to Cindy Drew via text at 941-914-2263 or e-mail at cindy@cindydrewnp.com

On a personal note, I've had the privilege of serving on the FNPN conference committee for the past two years. I have learned from FNPN's outstanding conference director, Dr. Jenn Kuretski, and I hope to apply what I have learned there at the local level. This year, I am honored to co-chair the new (SOS) State of the Science Committee on aging and healthcare with Dr. George Byron Peraza-Smith, GAPNA President. In addition, I'll be representing FNPN at the Safe Mobility for Life summer meeting this week.

FNPN offers so many opportunities for professional growth and leadership. Please consider joining FNPN. It is important that we join together. I am happy to speak to you personally about membership with both SCNP and FNPN. Please prioritize this for your profession.

Respectfully yours,

Cindy Drew DNP APRN BC-G
